"David and his band visited Hansa Studios in East Berlin to record backing vocals during the 1987 Glass Spider tour. I went up to the room where David had looked out over the Berlin Wall and was inspired to write and record 'Heroes'. I suggested that we take a few pictures beside the wall. The area was barren and desolate, and we were unaware that within two years the wall would fall. When I returned to Hansa in 2018 it was on a street of modern office blocks."
